Dear Nick,

Re: Met Office Severe Weather Warning:

As you know Severe Weather Warnings have been issued by the Met Office.

Storm Callum is due to hit the UK with a 36Hr Cyclone assault and could cause widespread devastation similar to the Tempest of 31 years ago in 1987 great storm. Hurricane scale gales with 80 mph winds are forecast
with extreme downpours causing floods‎ leading to damage and mayhem on the roads.

Appropriate action needs to be taken to protect our outdoor workforce so what is being done by the SHE team and Opps management to protect our Delivery and Distribution outdoor workers and drivers?

Yours Sincerely

Dave Joyce
National Health, Safety & Environment Officer

Nick Burns responded immediately:

Dave

Both these communications direct managers to the Met Office and our Severe Weather Risk Assessment and Severe Weather Communications intranet pages.

Regards

Nicholas Burns - CMIOSH , MIIAI

Additionally, Dave advised that communications have been sent to the Delivery Directors and Delivery Area Opps Managers as well as Distribution Managers and Parcelforce Managers by the RMG SHE team, bringing their attention to the need to implement, comply with and and follow the Severe Weather Risk Assessment which includes the need to cease operations if necessary.
